Warning Order June 2009

1. This will be a "back to work" drill as our two big events are behind us and we now have a period of time that we can devote to  "ourselves".  Do you hear a whop whop whop?? Drill will be on Saturday, June 13th at 0900hrs in the Camden,SC Viper Den.

2. SGM (R) Michael Mika, President of the Special Forces Association Chapter (Columbia) will be joining the Regiment and handle our requirements for LZ security, recon of destination points and eventually become our "Blues" platoon or A Team...  he'll brief us about his chapter and the national organization.  Afterwards, Jack will brief his visitors about CFF.

3. Danny Matthews, Ricky Gaskins, Eddie Matthews, Mike Floyd and others have formed a new Delta troop in Lake City (S of Florence). Danny is part owner of PEEDEEHeli helicopters, a Robinson Rebuild facility.  Danny is an AI (Aircraft Inspector) and has agreed to help the squadron.  He's recruited a half dozen Viet Vets with rotary wing experience, both front seats and back.  Ricky served 8 years in the National Guard as a medic.  Man o man am I glad to hear that! I see much more hangar activity in the coming months and having our own medic is a good insurance policy.  Ricky - you might start reviewing emergency procedures.   Eddie is another one of those McEntire maintenance guru's that has worked with our CSM Nance and others, he'll fit right in. More info at the drill.  Welcome Delta Troop!  HOOAH! If the weather cooperates, Ricky and Danny will bring BOTH of their helicopters!!!  Yep that's right!!  They both own Robinson helicopters.  We have some troop movement to do and will use one or both of them.  Might even sneak in a ride or two.

4. We'll discuss the CFF 1st annual National Homecoming for Vietnam Veterans scheduled for next May 2010.  Need to start planning now. By then we should have one or two of our Cobra's flying and Mike troop will provide at least one Huey for support.  Jack will give us the overall plan.

5.  Here's the task list for this upcoming drill.  Since there's a lot to accomplish, we'll pass a hat and send someone out for chow.  We'll have the briefings while we eat..................please RSVP so I know how many filet's to order. We now have a tow bar and a jeep to act as a tug so we'll be able to move aircraft relatively easy.  Since I have already completed my task, I'm going to have a sidebar meeting with Bob Decker, Mike Loy and Al Billings to discuss videos, photographs and newsletters.

6. Chris Anderson, our senior Cobra crewchief, was supposed to be swearing in this Monday.  But didn't - another FUBAR! He's been trying to get back into the Guard for over a year and kept getting put off.  He signed up with the Army reserves and in less than a month was accepted.  HOOAH!  Say a prayer that nothing will detour this event (didn't work :-(  Chris will become a Blackhawk crewchief for the 169th stationed at Ft. Bragg.  Good on ya Chris!  There will be an appropriate ceremony honoring Chris immediately after the drill.  Bring a designated driver (hint).

7.  There will be another ceremony but I'd have to kill you after I told you  - so just show up!

8.  This is a living document so check back for changes.  I hope to have 2 fixed wings and 3 helicopters show up so we'll have a mini-fly in.

Thank you for your service!  God bless America!
